About Natalie
ESL is part of a four-year tutoring career during which I have worked with 175 students, from complete beginners to adults wanting practical everyday conversational skills for work or family life. My own understanding of the challenges involved developed through informal community volunteering, which shapes my practical, results-focused teaching style rather than a heavily academic one. I am encouraging and down to earth in my approach, believing steady, achievable progress works far better than an intimidating, overly technical curriculum for most learners. Many students arrive simply wanting enough English for daily life, and I structure lessons around exactly that goal.

My ESL lessons focus on practical, achievable progress from the very first session, ensuring students can hold a simple real conversation within their first few lessons rather than spending weeks on isolated grammar drills alone. Vocabulary and grammar are taught through repetition tied directly to real situations like work and daily errands, since practising within genuine context builds both retention and motivation simultaneously. I keep explanations short and immediately followed by spoken practice, since long verbal instruction tends to lose a student's focus quickly during a lesson together. Short voice recordings are shared after lessons, giving students a clear reference for pronunciation during home practice.
