About Lacey
I have a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. from the University of St. Andrews. I have been teaching for four years, both at a high school, and a community college, where I currently work. I have taught SAT prep in the past, but I currently teach college-level reading and writing skills. These include critical reading skills and comprehension, understanding of literature, and elements of essay essay writing like thesis statements, paragraphing, vocabulary, and transitions. I also offer SAT and GRE prep for the verbal and writing sections.

I tend to make lessons as hands-on as possible. I value discussion and student insight into literature, as well as modeling reading skills through this discussion. Reading and writing are skills that require practice to refine, so I help students learn these skills through modeling and practice together.
