About Jean
My son had a learning disability and battled with reading, writing, listening and understanding. At the outset, from his entry into pre-school, I became very involved in his learning. My assistance has covered areas that have required patience, understanding the difficulties of learning something new, and assisting with regard to different ways of learning. This background lead me to doing mentoring 2 children at a children’s home for 2 years, where I assisted with various projects and homework, helping children whose first language was not English.

My assistance has covered areas that have required patience, understanding the difficulties of learning something new, and assisting with regard to different ways of learning, i.e. self-talk, mind mapping, association, use of visual material, like props, and doing, using play and games. English is a difficult language to learn and requires patience and understanding to transfer, explain and simplify effectively, to enable beginners to understand. I am passionate about helping others and sharing my life experience and knowledge. After all teaching is the process of attending to children's / people's needs, experiences and feelings, and making specific interventions to help them learn particular things and this is what I aim to do.
