About Esme
Awarded the Samuel James Woodall Prize for best overall performance on the English Literature program.
Throughout my degree I have helped my friends talk through their essays, editing and proofreading essays, and more recently dissertations.
As Junior Editor on the peer-review board of Polyphone (the University of Manchester's student led English Literature journal) I have gained lots of experience proofreading, editing, and offering individual feedback on essays.
Last academic year I was a Peer Mentor to a group of first years giving them advice around essays and academic conventions.
Moreover, I have a lot of experience babysitting wherein I have helped with primary school homework, and even assisted with creative writing pieces.

I have just graduated with the highest grade in my year in English Literature from the University of Manchester, and I am happy to tutor from primary school to first year degree level.
I offer flexible lessons catered to each individual. I believe that essays, at every academic level, are simply a form of conversation and that through talking together we can work to improve critical analysis skills: examining how texts speak and what they say; whilst finding the words and structure for your ideas; and hopefully having a few laughs along the way!
Having had bad dyslexia throughout primary and secondary school I understand that formulaic education can sometimes feel exclusive. Although I am no expert, I am willing to explore more imaginative forms of lessons - be it walking and talking, or incorporating drawing and more visual learning aids (tools which have helped me across my degree) to ensure that lessons our are genuinely engaging and exciting.
