About Victoria
My love of reading is one of the main reasons I tutor English. I have always valued the way literature can expand our perspective, strengthen our thinking, and help us connect more deeply with the world around us. At the same time, I know from experience that high school English does not always feel inspiring or supportive for every student. Because of that, my goal as a tutor is to help students build the positive experience with English that I believe they should have had all along.
I strive to create a patient, encouraging, and judgment-free learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace. Whether a student needs help with reading comprehension, literacy, essay writing, grammar, or literary analysis, I focus on breaking tasks into manageable steps and building both understanding and confidence.
More than just improving marks, I want students to feel more capable in English and more connected to what they are reading and writing. I aim to make English feel less intimidating, more rewarding, and ultimately more meaningful for every student I work with.

As a tutor, my goal is to make English feel less overwhelming and more approachable. I know that reading, writing, and essay work can be stressful for many students, so I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I believe the best learning happens when students truly understand why something works, not when they are just given the answer.
My teaching approach
I use a patient, step-by-step teaching style that is tailored to each student’s strengths and areas for growth. I help students with reading comprehension, literacy development, essay writing, grammar, and editing by breaking tasks into manageable parts and teaching practical strategies they can use on their own in class.
My lessons often include:
* working through readings together and discussing meaning, themes, and key ideas
* helping students plan and organize essays from brainstorming to final editing
* improving sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary
* using guided questions and examples to build confidence in analysis and writing
* reviewing school assignments and giving constructive, specific feedback
What a lesson with me looks like
A typical lesson starts with checking in on what the student is working on and where they are feeling stuck. We then go through the material together, whether that means reading a passage, planning an essay, revising a paragraph, or practicing literacy skills. I guide the student through examples, explain concepts clearly, and give them time to try independently with support when needed. By the end of the lesson, I aim for students to leave feeling more confident, more prepared, and with a better understanding of the skill we worked on.
What makes me different
What sets me apart is that I try to balance academic support with encouragement. I want students to improve their marks, but I also want them to feel more capable and less intimidated by English. I focus on building long-term skills, not just getting through one assignment, so students can become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers over time.
Who I work with:
I offer lessons for students who need help with:
* literacy and reading skills
* reading comprehension
* grammar and sentence structure
* paragraph and essay writing
* literary analysis and English assignments
My tutoring is best suited for elementary, middle school, and high school students, and lessons can always be adjusted based on the student’s age, course level, and goals.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Victoria is an extremely kind and patient tutor! She helped me out a ton with my English essay this past semester, helping me make it sound much more professional. She read over my work and gave me good feedback, answering any questions I had in a way I could understand. I have had difficulties fully comprehending English literature, and Victoria was a great help in clearing up anything I didn't quite get! I would definitely recommend her!
