About Katie

I have first-hand experience in learning a foreign language - let me help you achieve your goals! My last five years in the world of education have been quite an adventure! I am a qualified Modern Foreign Languages teacher, specialising in Spanish, Italian, and French. I have helped many students, children and adults, achieve their linguistic goals. I have a PGCE in MFL Education and a BA Joint Honours degree in Spanish and Italian, with distinction in spoken Spanish. I am also a secondary school and college teacher, and this means that I am DBS approved. Outside of teaching, travelling is my biggest passion; exploring new destinations and immersing myself in different cultures is an exciting adventure. I used to live in Spain (Madrid) and Italy (Bologna). I also adore singing and musical theatre. I can't wait to hear about your interests and hobbies, so that we can make these part of your learning experience! Teaching is my true passion. I find immense joy in helping people break down language barriers and connect with others. I also firmly believe in being a reflective educator, and this is why I stay up to date with the latest effective teaching methods and trends. I do all of this to ensure that you are confident in your progress.

About the lesson

In our lessons together, our focus will be on effective communication. We'll delve into language with practical, real-life purposes, making every session meaningful. I believe in using a diverse range of materials, from traditional textbooks to authentic resources like music, videos, and literature, to immerse you fully in the language and culture. But I'm not just about the lesson content – I'm here to ensure you're making progress. That's why we'll have regular check-ins to ensure you feel confident in your advancement. Above all, I am a patient and kind teacher, who will take your strengths and interests into consideration, and I will tailor make a personalised learning plan, just for you. I am very flexible, and whatever your schedule, I can work around you. I can offer 30, 45, 60 and 90 minute lessons. My students often tell me that my lessons are fun, entertaining, and, most importantly, incredibly useful. You see, teaching is my passion. I'm a firm believer in the joy of helping others reach their goals. Plus, it's a lot of fun, and along the way, we become not just student and teacher but also friends and fellow language enthusiasts.
