About Zhen

Hi! My name is Stella, and I am currently studying for a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics at UNSW in Sydney.

I am passionate about language learning and enjoy helping others build confidence in learning Mandarin. As someone who has learned English, Japanese (JLPT N2), and Italian, I understand both the challenges and the rewards of learning a new language. This experience helps me explain language points clearly and patiently from a learner's perspective.

I hold a Level 2-A Certificate in the Putonghua Proficiency Test, and I am currently studying Advanced TESOL Methodology and Multimedia Translation as part of my postgraduate degree. These studies have strengthened my understanding of language teaching, communication, and effective learning strategies.

Whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, work, study, or personal interest, I will adapt each lesson to your goals and learning pace. My aim is to create a friendly, supportive, and encouraging learning environment where you can enjoy learning and make steady progress.

I look forward to helping you begin your Mandarin learning journey!

About the lesson

I offer one-to-one Mandarin lessons for beginners and elementary learners, either online or in person in Sydney.

Each lesson is usually 60 minutes, but 30-minute trial lessons are also available for younger learners or first-time students.

My lessons are suitable for:

Complete beginners
Children and teenagers
Adults interested in learning Mandarin
Learners preparing for basic Chinese communication or HSK beginner levels

Every lesson is tailored to the student's goals and learning pace. I focus on building a strong foundation in pronunciation, vocabulary, and everyday communication through interactive activities and practical examples.

As a Master's student in Applied Linguistics at UNSW, I enjoy helping students understand not only the language itself but also effective language learning strategies. My aim is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students can build confidence step by step.

Having learned English, Japanese, and Italian myself, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and enjoy making the learning process clear, practical, and enjoyable.
