About Naomi

Hajimemashite! Nice to meet you!

My Education:
I was born and raised in Northern Japan, where I attended traditional Japanese schools, until I came to the United States to attend college. I have two graduate degrees, and a graduate certificate in Education and Instructional Design.

My specialities are:
️* Explaining subtle nuances in Japanese grammar and culture that differ from English
*️ Japanese language and etiquette for travel, doing business in Japan, or working with Japanese clients & partners

*️ Incorporating interests and topics that are relevant to YOU for engaging lessons

Work Highlights:
I've worked cross-culturally between Japan and the US, in IT, Marketing, and Film and Media, where I spoke, wrote, created content in Japanese, and interacted with Japanese clients on a daily basis. Over the past 20+ years, I regularly travel to Japan for business, and have presented at trade shows, conducted interviews and tech webinars for Japanese audiences. I've coached C-level executives and medical doctors for their presentations, press conferences, and business meetings in Japan.

As a life-long learner and culture lover, I keep up to date on current Japanese culture and trends, language, and new educational content and methods.

My Background:
I was raised in a bilingual environment, where my siblings and I were fully immersed in Japanese at school and outside of the home, and our English-teacher mother tutored us in English at home. Having come from such a background myself, Japanese bilingual education is one of my specialties.

I'm a big dog lover, and enjoy cooking -- especially Japanese dishes! In my free time I'm a musician and an artist.

Kon'nichiwa! I specialize in teaching Japanese language and culture. I am a native speaker of Japanese and English and have over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels in private and group lessons, in corporate settings, and in universities. I am a friendly, creative, and versatile instructor and I work with you to create the best curriculum to meet your individual needs.
