About Bridie
I am a master's student at the University of Oxford with a degree in Spanish from the university of Cambridge. I also have a PGCE in teaching Spanish and I taught Spanish to secondary school pupils in London for a year. I have lived and worked in Spain and Latin America.

In our first lesson we'll begin by getting to know each other a bit and I'll ask you some questions about your current level of Spanish, what you hope to get out of our sessions and how I can help you.
If you have specific goals, I'll work on preparing some activities to help with those in our next class.
I like to focus on relaxed practice, introducing activities and resources that can help embed new vocabulary and make grammar natural and second nature. I also like to work on your pronunciation, since that is often overlooked in group sessions or independent study.
As a former Spanish teacher in a UK secondary school, I'm familiar with the curriculum and exam requirements, and I can provide support to complement school lessons if you're a student.
However, because I learned Spanish from scratch very intensively as a university student, I can also support with undergraduate or adult learning.
I have a degree in Spanish from the University of Cambridge, I've been told I have a great accent which is very comprensible to learners, and I currently work in consulting in an international team mostly focused on Latin America. I use Spanish daily in my work and visit my old host family in Madrid every summer.
When I was learning Spanish the thing I found most difficult was building the basics and then finding the confidence to use them in conversation. Once I was a bit more relaxed and fluid with my verbs, I could use that to communicate, make friends, and then my Spanish really took off. That's my aim for all my students. I'll always be understanding and approachable and flexible to your needs.
