About Simeon
I'm relaxed, friendly and approachable. I can engage a whole Kindy class writing a song about animals but equally enjoy seeing the strong progress that comes from one on one lessons with my much older private students.
My students have ranged in age from four years old, to retirees in their late 60’s. I have tutored students in drumkit, guitar, electric bass and musicology/theory.
I also have extensive professional experience as a working musician. I have performed at venues such as Floriade, The Canberra Theatre and Llewellyn Hall. I have also performed regionally including at the Merimbula Jazz Festival, The National Folk Festival, Newcastle Jazz Festival and venues in Melbourne and Sydney. I have a strong background in performing professionally as a drummer and guitarist and enjoy sharing this knowledge with my students. While based in Canberra I also gained a position with the ADF as a Reserve Musician in the Army Band, performing regularly with them until relocation to the Eurobodalla in 2022.

Lessons with me are engaging. I'm a primary school music teacher (K-6) with over a decade experience in music tuition for all ages- so you can expect lessons to be fun and tailored to where you're at. You can expect me to start with asking about your favourite songs and artists.
Lessons are grounded in my professional knowledge as a well-seasoned musician. I have extensive experience (20+ years) as a working musician, performing Pop, Big Band, Funk and Jazz on bass, drums and guitar. Drawing on my training- a Bachelor Of Music Performance (Jazz) from ANU, 2013- I am able to give students a solid and well-rounded foundation in guitar.
For beginners, 30 minute lessons are recommended.
