About Asha
Greetings, my name is Asha, and I'm a graduate student and educator who works with learners of all ages, from children to adults. I am currently studying educational technology and instructional design. I am a firm believer that every student can reach their dreams.
My teaching philosophy is shaped by my experience working with everyone from non-vocal students with specialized needs to ESOL learners focused on writing and job readiness. I meet students where they are, as they are. I strive to cultivate an ecosystem that encourages curiosity and brings joy back to learning.
My approach to teaching and learning is with a fresh perspective and steady presence, focusing on understanding and growth rather than perfection. I am just as much a student as I am a teacher, and each student offers me great insight into how to best help them reach their objectives. I have experience working with early adolescents through seniors. I am comfortable with people of all ages, identities, and cultural backgrounds. Learning is a shared practice. I'm honored to be a part of it.

I work with students from across the age, cultural, ability, and learning support needs spectrum. The first step is to get to know them. I ask questions about what motivates them and how they process things, and we figure out their approach together. It's never one-size-fits-all. If telling a story helps a concept stick, we use it. If sketching it out works, we'll do that.
I believe in asking good questions: sometimes they're spoken, sometimes not. My time with non-vocal students taught me that communication happens beyond the auditory. True Socratic insight into who the student is is as important as the lesson. To further that, I see accessibility as the indispensable capstone of the entire process, there to lend a hand when needed. I firmly believe in meeting learners where they are.
Real education is absorbed over time. Sometimes progress is quick and easy, but other times what appears to be a struggle is just the student processing a concept that is unfamiliar to them. I found this out myself with my undergrad in Applied Economics. I was, and I still am, heavily influenced by non-traditional learning, like Khan Academy, where knowledge feels accessible and human. I am here to promote understanding that persists. A cram session of understanding often doesn't work out in the long term. Real understanding does. Every learner surprises me, and I show up ready to learn alongside them, every step along the way.

Asha is a one-of-a-kind teacher. He helps you learn in a way that makes sense to you. When you work with Asha, it's not a one-size-fits-all, as that rarely works out. He is dedicated, patient, honorable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. I have known him for years, and he is the one you would want to help you learn.
Asha is wonderful! We met through community organizing, and they have been so helpful to my daughter! She's 5 years old, not in kindergarten quite yet, but learning reading skills. Asha has really honed their skill in teaching and connecting with all sorts of people. They made it fun for her to learn and were extremely patient when she'd get frustrated. She's now an expert in phonics and sounding words out. I can't say enough good things about them, especially as a tutor! She will be ahead when she starts kindergarten in the fall!
Asha and I worked as Behavioral Therapist for children with autism. They were an individual who I helped train in, then becoming peers. After working with him for months, I got to not only see how patient of a teacher he was while working with the children, but also the genuine amount of care and fun he brought while working with him. He is a very empathetic individual, always putting others before himself. Least of which, advocating for his self and the individuals, making sure they received proper care.
Asha gave me excellent feedback on my resume, which I needed to edit. With his help I now have a clearer, cleaner, and more confident resume to take into my job search!
