I’m a full time student studying a Bachelor of Education in Primary teaching through the medium of Irish. My aim is to teach Irish in an enthusiastic, engaging and productive manner!

About Lauren

I’m a full time student studying Level 8 BEd Primary through the medium of Irish. I have been learning Irish since the age of 4 and I have received excellent grades in both my Junior and Leaving Certification Examinations. As I previously mentioned, I’m currently studying Irish and I recently received a 1.1 Irish grade in my University exams.

About the lesson

My main objective from any lesson is for the student to feel confident within their ability, and for them to finish their lesson feeling fulfilled.

All levels of Irish are welcome and I will adapt all my lessons to cater for each pupils individual needs.

I have adopted a ‘modern’ approach to teaching Irish. I think it is especially important to focus on what the student is particularly interested in and work from there.

For example, if a student loves sport I will use a video clip of a GAA game. The student will be listening to the Irish being spoken, then we will discuss the clip in Irish. Following this, we will read/write the text and talk about grammar points.

In my opinion, there are four main skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing.
