About Hyunjoung

Hi! I'm Hyunjoung, a native Korean language teacher based in the UK.

I have been teaching languages professionally since 2015. I began my teaching career in Seoul, South Korea, before spending five years teaching at a Canadian international language school, where I worked with students from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Since 2022, I have been teaching Korean online to learners around the world.

My academic background combines language, education, and teaching. I hold bachelor's degrees in English, Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, and Education, which enable me to explain Korean clearly and effectively to learners of all levels.

In addition to my teaching experience, I hold an official Korean Language Teacher Certificate, a TESOL certificate, and a Level 1 Professional English–Korean / Korean–English Translation Certificate. I have also worked as a professional translator since 2020, giving me a deep understanding of both Korean and English.

I believe that learning a language should be practical, enjoyable, and confidence-building. My goal is not only to help students understand Korean, but to help them communicate naturally and comfortably in real-life situations.

About the lesson

My teaching is based on one simple principle: you learn Korean by using it, not just studying it.

I combine structured lessons with plenty of speaking practice so that students can immediately apply what they learn. Every lesson is personalised according to your level, goals, and learning style.

My teaching approach

• Guided speaking practice from the very beginning, with supportive corrections and encouragement

• Clear grammar explanations designed specifically for English speakers, focusing on understanding rather than memorisation

• Personalised feedback during every lesson, including vocabulary, pronunciation, and more natural sentence patterns

• Short review activities and optional homework to reinforce learning between lessons

My aim is to help students move from "I understand Korean" to "I can confidently speak Korean."

Lesson structure

A typical 50-minute lesson includes:

• Guided conversation and speaking practice

• Grammar, vocabulary, and useful expressions

• Error correction and personalised feedback

• Review of previous material and homework (where applicable)

The exact structure is always adjusted to suit each student's needs and pace.

• Teaching languages professionally since 2015

• Official Korean Language Teacher Certificate

• Bachelor's degrees in English, Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, and Education

• TESOL certified

• Level 1 Professional English–Korean / Korean–English Translator

• Nearly five years of teaching at an international language school

• Professional translator since 2020
