About Fiona
Hello, I’m Fiona, a GTCS-registered Primary teacher based in Central Scotland, with over 20 years of teaching experience, including 11 years in Support for Learning roles. I currently work part time in a local primary school, and I am also a mum to two children of my own, so I understand the pressures families face and the importance of learning support that’s flexible, personalised, and practical. I hold a Master’s degree in Education (Additional Support Needs) and have recently completed a Professional Recognition enquiry in Dyslexia through the General Teaching Council for Scotland and Dyslexia Scotland. I specialise in helping children who experience difficulties with: Reading, spelling, and phonics Dyslexia and processing differences Writing confidence and structure Using tools like Nessy effectively All support is shaped by the principles of Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, and designed to build confidence, independence, and long-term literacy skills. Tutoring is offered in a flexible format, through email, shared documents, printable resources, or optional online check-ins, face to face and is ideal for primary-aged learners (P1–P7). Whether your child needs targeted support or just a gentle boost, I bring a warm, experienced, and understanding approach to every learner I work with.

I’m a fully qualified primary teacher based in Scotland, with over 20 years of teaching experience, 11 of those in Support for Learning. I hold a Master’s in Education (Additional Support Needs) and have recently completed a GTCS Professional Recognition in Dyslexia via Dyslexia Scotland. I specialise in supporting children who experience difficulties with literacy – including dyslexia, reading comprehension, writing, phonics, and spelling and offer personalised support grounded in inclusive practice. My approach is shaped by the principles of Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, particularly the Literacy and English Experiences and Outcomes. I aim to build children’s confidence, independence, and love of learning, while aligning support with national benchmarks and individual needs. I offer flexible tutoring options, including: Personalised weekly tasks Feedback and next steps on written work Printable and digital resources Support with Nessy and other tools Optional online check-ins or video guidance Parent-friendly strategies for supporting learning at home Support is typically delivered via email or shared documents, with optional online elements. This flexible model suits busy families, home educators, and learners who prefer written support. However, I also offer face to face tutoring if this is preferred. My teaching is underpinned by evidence-based methods, including: Structured phonics and spelling strategies Multi-sensory, dyslexia-friendly approaches Scaffolding for writing and comprehension Clear, constructive feedback tailored to each learner A nurturing, strengths-based ethos I work with primary-aged learners (P1–P7) across Scotland and beyond, helping each child grow in confidence, develop key literacy skills, and feel more empowered in their learning journey. Whether your child needs targeted help with dyslexia, extra literacy support, or a confidence boost, I’m here to help in a way that fits your family and supports long-term success.
