About Lauriana

It’s been 8 years since I started teaching. I started with French and foreign children for tutoring. My goal, however, was to awaken their curiosity and their taste for learning rather than looking for a numerical result like a note. But it is this approach that has transformed their vision of school, of learning, and made them evolve in their school assessments. I believe in everyone’s potential, we just have to understand how it works, which varies from one individual to another. Then I taught in Japan, English group lessons for children from 2 to 6 years old in a nursery school, then private lessons in English, French and Spanish to teenagers, adults and retired Japanese people, with very varied levels.

About the lesson

Hey! I grew up in France but was born in an entirely Spanish family, so I grew up with two languages and two cultures. I then studied other languages, including Japanese. So I was able to spend a year in Japan and teach English, French and Spanish to Japanese people, from children to retirees, beginners to advanced levels. When it comes to learning a language, I do not believe in miracle methods, but I believe that everyone must find their method, or rather their learning strategy. I am here to build a method and a strategy that suits you and your daily life. So I do not pretend to teach you a language, it’s impossible in my opinion, but to teach you how to learn a language, then to support you, to guide you in your learning. I always use the first class to get to know you better in order to offer you several learning techniques and to create new ones with you that correspond to your personality and your lifestyle. After the first class, you will know how to reach your goal, it will be up to you to play. As for me, I will be there to evaluate you, guide you, readjust your strategy according to your growing level, answer your questions at any time, and share my passion for foreign languages with you. But if my methods vary from one student to another, they all share the same essence, which is fun. Because the brain and memory are a hundred times more effective when they combine joy and pleasure with learning, I have made it the highest principle of my teaching philosophy. You will progress at the same time as your motivation will grow! If I had to concentrate my teaching philosophy in one sentence, I would use this quote from Confucius: “When a man is hungry, it is better to teach him how to fish than to give him a fish.” Hasta pronto!
