About Annie

I am fairly new to the tutoring community, but do not let my inexperience put you off - I have tutored a GCSE student in the past through my school, who went on to achieve B grades from an expected E/D, as well as undertaken a course in TEFL, applying my knowledge to teaching students from Spain and Italy English.

I'm the oldest of 4 children, and I've helped them in the past with their exams, such as my brother and sister with their GCSE biology.

About the lesson

Hi there! I'm an undergraduate Psychology student at the University of Southampton, planning to train to become an Animal Assisted Therapist in the future. I know the stress of exams first hand, and I know from my own person experience just how stressful it is when your teacher just doesn't explain something important in a way that you just don't get, the torment of going through your revision guide, youtube, anything that might explain it in a way that helps your brain click and make you go 'ah! I get this now!'. I'll confess - it was the help of my tutors that helped me get through my own exams with the grades I did.

I recognise not every student learns the same way - we are all unique, our brains process information differently - so I will seek to use a variety of different techniques to help you actively learn things. We'll cover mind maps, quick fire quizzes, exam questions, and even cover some video based information to help you enrich your learning. I personally found a combination of all of that got me to where I am now - but if this kind of thing isn't your piece of cake, I enjoy discovering new techniques of study and revision, and I'm open to discovering it!

My lessons are flexible and exciting - you want the same structure each lesson, I got you buddy; want something different every time? We can do that too!

Our initial session will be mostly getting to know each other, where your strengths and weaknesses lie and working out a flexible plan of action we will work towards as we go. I offer homework between lessons (but not too much - I know how much your teachers can pile on you).
