About James
I am a fluent German speaker with an MA (Hons) and MPhil in German & Philosophy from the University of Glasgow. I have previous tutoring experience and a strong academic background, including doctoral research at Durham University. I enjoy helping students build clarity, confidence and structure in their learning.
My approach is calm, disciplined and encouraging. I focus on breaking down complex grammar into manageable steps and building speaking confidence through consistent practice. I aim to create a steady, supportive environment where students can progress with confidence.

I offer structured, calm and focused German tuition for GCSE and A-Level students, as well as adult beginners. Lessons are tailored to individual needs, with clear attention to grammar foundations, vocabulary building and exam technique. I place particular emphasis on speaking confidence and written accuracy.
Each session is typically 60 minutes and includes targeted practice, feedback and structured progression. With an MA (Hons) and MPhil in German & Philosophy from Glasgow, and previous tutoring experience, I aim to build both competence and confidence in a steady, disciplined way.
