About Maki

If any of these sound like you, I’m here to support you wholeheartedly.
Self-study is important when learning a language, but staying motivated and knowing if you’re on the right path can be challenging alone.
That’s why I’m here—to walk beside you and help you keep moving forward.

Hi, I’m Maki, a Japanese teacher based in Tokyo.
I’ve taught learners of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers—as well as travelers and business professionals.
Although I’ve been teaching for less than a year, I find great joy in supporting each student’s desire to speak Japanese and achieve their goals.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on “enjoying the process × using what you learn.”
Rather than just teaching Japanese, I aim to walk alongside you as a supportive guide toward your goals.

Mistakes? No problem. Don’t understand something? That’s okay!
You can learn in a relaxed and safe environment.

If you have a clear goal (e.g. JLPT, business conversation), I may provide homework or assignments to help you stay on track.
Language learning requires self-study too—but I’ll support your motivation and pace.

・Practice conversations for convenience store, restaurants, hotels, and stations
・Learn Japanese culture and manners (e.g. how to use chopsticks, remove shoes, give souvenirs)
・Get tips for navigating Tokyo and other practical support

● For Beginners
・Start with hiragana & katakana
・Practice basic conversations (self-introductions, shopping, asking directions)
・Learn slowly with easy Japanese for a safe and comfortable experience
・Use role-plays to practice real-life expressions

● For Intermediate Learners
・Practice sharing your ideas and experiences
・Understand and apply Japanese used in dramas and social media
・Learn the difference between polite and casual expressions

● For Advanced Learners
・Discuss news and current events
・Master business Japanese, including honorifics and etiquette
・Learn vocabulary related to your specific interests or field
