——————————————————
I was born in a small town in Northern Germany, and speak "Hochdeutsch", which is as close as it gets to "accent free" German. I started teaching at a very young age: with 15 I started working as a dance instructor at a dance school, later became a First Aid Instructor, and after qualifying as a registered health care professional I volunteered for the London Ambulance Service Public Education department and gave workshops and talks in East London's Secondary Schools in collaboration with the MET about Knife Crime Prevention, so I know a thing or two about crowd control. I was awarded the Metropolitan Police Service Commendation for my involvement in the anti knife crime project.
I led a reception class at a German Saturday School in London for six years, successfully teaching children the use of the German language using age appropriate materials and tools. Six years ago I dipped my toes into the UK exam preparation, due to one of my own children sitting the exam privately. Since then I have tutored several GCSE and A level candidates and even university students very successfully, with not just a 100% pass rate, but with a 100% rate of my students receiving grade 7-9/A*-B. I am a very outgoing and creative teacher, but also cater for the more quiet learners. In the end it is my goal the students enjoy the sessions with me. Learning never ends, so after losing a bet with one of my GCSE students I had to sit my own Level 2 exam, in English. I am relieved to announce I have passed. But it reminded me of the stress the students are under, with the exam date approaching, and I hope I can make revising interesting, fun, and motivating. I am currently studying towards becoming a qualified teacher (QTLS), because I realised teaching is what I want to do full time in the future.

"Learning is experience. Everything else is just information."
Albert Einstein had a few opinions about education, that not necessarily match the education system our children are stuck in nowadays.
My students achieve remarkable success in their GCSE examinations, as I nurture their language skills to perfection. Tailor-made individual lessons, finely crafted to suit their individual learning style and aspirations, making language acquisition an enjoyable adventure.
I am passionate about making learning German not just educational, but truly captivating under my tutelage. Congratulations to my current GCSE students who all received a grade 9 in the summer exams - Well done! Also a big shout out to my A-level graduate who is now starting reading German at Oxford University - what a fantastic achievement. All the best for your future endeavours, and I am looking forward to continuing studying with you!
Whether your child’s aim is to shine in their GCSE exams or to aspire to higher academic pursuits at renowned institutions, I am here to guide you.
I tailor my lessons to each student, and include their hobbies, lifestyle, interests when we read and analyse texts or move on to comprehension and text understanding. Of course we will follow the exam specifications, and will go through all papers and work through past papers for the listening, reading, writing and speaking parts of the exam, and will master the unknown waters of the new GCSE curriculum that has it’s first exams this summer.
I prefer face-to-face teaching, but will be available for online tutoring as well.
My students can expect a little task/homework, this can include watching a little film in German and answering questions about it, or writing a text about a topic we discussed, or filling in a worksheet (on paper or via the interactive online materials I create for my students.). The students are encouraged to email the homework back to me before the following lesson, so I have it marked and ready to be discussed when the lesson starts.
I create a safe, positive, and productive learning environment, and as any good teacher should I understand the pace and capacity of my learners, and I have been very successful in preparing neurotypical and neurodiverse GCSE and A level candidates, or students with special educational needs, for their exams.

Mona was recommended to me by a friend. My son struggled with his German after having missed so many classes due to medical reasons. She was very flexible and came to our house, and my son loved the lessons with her. She gave him little homework, and recommended great German websites, songs and films. Sometimes I wondered what the homework had to do with the upcoming exam but she explained it to me and it was stunning how she rewrote the way the school was teaching the GCSE content without changing a thing, so he learned exactly what he needed to learn.
He was very anxious about the exam day, and asked a lot what-if questions, but she had an answer to literally anything. The communication with us parents was brilliant as well. With her help my son managed to get a 9 in his German GCSE, and we are beyond happy.
Thankyou Mona! xxMona has been a dear colleague of mine for many years as we worked together at the German Saturday School in Hampstead. My own son used to be in her class and he still talks about some of the things they did with her back then.
Mona is an energetic teacher who gets everyone in her class motivated to learn. She is fun and creative with the children whilst bringing in interesting topics for them to explore. I can highly recommend her!View more recommendations
