About Helie
I started dreaming of becoming a professional drummer when I was three years old. At the time it felt unattainable, but twenty years on, through meeting the right teachers and surrounding myself with brilliant musicians, I've made that dream a reality.
Along the way, I gained my Grade 8 in both Drums and Music Theory, and spent three years completing a BMus in Popular Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. This experience that taught me as much about learning and teaching as it did about performing.
Teaching has become a genuine passion of mine. I love watching my students thrive, and seeing lessons help them grow not only as musicians, but in confidence too. I'm still active today as a live and recording drummer, with past highlights including performing with renowned French artist Jean-Jacques Goldman. These experiences help me focus on the skills that matter most, so each student can achieve exactly what they're aiming for.

A lesson with me is always built around you. We'll work towards your goals, at your pace, whether you're focused on learning songs or refining technique, whether drumming is a hobby or a potential career, and whether you've been playing for ten years or have never touched a kit.
Lessons combine technique and rudiments, repertoire, reading and ear training, structured around what you want to achieve. This also includes focused preparation for Trinity and Rockschool exams, or GCSE and A-level performances, where relevant. Sessions usually run for 60 minutes, and I'm happy to adapt the timing to suit your schedule.
I teach students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced players, in person and online. I've been teaching for over six years, hold a Grade 8 in both Drums and Music Theory, and have a 100% pass rate across Trinity and Rockschool grades.
