About Joelle

I have a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase incl. Grade 7 from Varsity College in addition to a TEFL certificate. I am a SACE registered educator. I am a 27 year old mother of a 3 year old and this has given me the rewarding perspective of being a mother and a teacher. Family is important to me and apart from learning, what I value most. I love working with children, being in the classroom was always the best part of my day when teaching in the past. I believe learning is a form of self-empowerment and opens gateways to future opportunities of success. Therefore, as an Intermediate Phase teacher I believe it is my duty to help kids build a solid foundation so that they have the ability to grasp and succeed in whatever opportunities come their way whether it be in life in general, high school, college or their future career.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is kind and nurturing. I dedicate personal time to make sure lessons are as fun and educational as possible. I am very familiar with the curriculum and teaching pedagogy knowledge which together with my natural analytical personality helps me prep lessons in line with the aims of the curriculum. A typical lesson is structured according to a lesson plan and helps the learner construct new knowledge or correct prior knowledge which has resulted from a misunderstanding/gap in learning. My hope is that my lessons facilitate deep learning and improve self-confidence in my students.
