About Sébastien
I have a degree in Applied Linguistics and Translation (French and German), I have passed the C2 Cambridge Proficiency Exam in English, the C1 Goethe Institute Certification in German and I have gone through the elementary and secondary French education system, as well as having lived in Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium which means I am familiar with almost every european type of French and German.

My teaching method centers around the concept that a language is not necessarily learnt methodically, when children are very young they learn words and concepts without translating them first, which is something that often happens when learning foreign languages. I feel like this should be avoided if possible, by aiming to make the lessons in just the target language (as much as possible).
If lessons include French (or German) newspaper articles, songs or videos, the learner can absorb the culture of the country at the same time as learning grammar and syntax, which I feel should come last. A pragmatic approach to language means that the focus is taken away from a prescriptive "perfect speech", and teaches linguistic ability as a curve, rather than giving a binary "fluent or not-fluent" impression, which can be discouraging.
