About Rebekah
My musical experience began when I started playing piano at 6. From that young age, I was taught about music theory first, instrument second. I was classically trained for 8 years but stopped to pursue singing, which is what I enjoy more, but using my knowledge of music theory, I taught myself how to play by chords. All this to say, however, I have extensive knowledge of how to understand music, whether through piano or singing, and I will do my best to help you understand the concepts one by one.
My experience primarily lies in volunteering at my church's various children's ministries from ages newborn all the way to 18. However, the experience that has best prepared me for tutoring is my experience as a special education instructional aide. I have experience working with children who have autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities. In fact, I myself am neurodivergent, thus giving me first hand experience at just how hard it can be from an education standpoint if you learn or process things a little differently.
While I have professional experience working in "special education," I am by no means limited to this area of the education field. If anything, it has just made me more patient and more willing to connect with students on an individual basis. Whatever you are struggling with - whether that's trying to interpret the building blocks of music theory, whether that's having trouble forming complete, comprehensive thoughts in regards to English or History, or whether that's having trouble with remembering the order of operations for math - I promise that I will meet you where you are in your area of struggle. I promise that I will explain things thoroughly in a non-judgmental way until you understand. But most importantly, I promise that I will cheer you on, celebrate you, and encourage you to keep learning and keep growing in your INDIVIDUAL education journey.
