About Shruti
Teaching younger children and supporting them with reading is something that I enjoy doing as I tend to get on well with children. To me, teaching is an honourable job. It is rewarding to see children achieve goals and improve their academic work, which is why I would like to teach primary aged children in the future.
Reflecting on my experiences, I believe that I have acquired vital skills which are needed to be a teacher. Recognising the importance of planning lessons has allowed me to create engaging activities and bring enthusiasm to promote learning, which is the ultimate goal.

By volunteering at Bookmark Reading Charity, I have learned to create and plan fun and engaging sessions, where children are enthused to learn. I ensure that children understand what is being asked and monitor their progress. For each session, I try to start off with a recap of previous sessions and once children feel comfortable, I encourage them to create their own.
I volunteer with primary aged children, therefore the lessons are aimed at primary aged children (KS1 and KS2). Sessions can vary from 30 minutes to an hour.
