About Alex
English and the written word have always been a passion of mine. I have written many essays and stories in my lifetime, have had several poems published in magazines and online and am currently working on a novel.
For my Associate’s at Clark, I took several college English classes, being an A student in all of them. In 2021 I won an Oswald award for my tutoring through Clark College. I also have 3 years of public speaking experience in competition, winning many awards through Speech and Debate (leaning more heavily on speech rather than debate), and was chosen to give a speech at my college graduation.
As a tutor, I have read and critiqued many papers for students at all levels in different subjects ranging from history papers to technical or creative writing. I also have a background in public speaking and have written and critiqued speeches and presentations for public events and classes.
I enjoy helping people and am known to give good, reliable feedback for all of my students. I always make sure to keep up good, timely communication and leave my students feeling satisfied and more confident about the final result.

When receiving a new student, I will always first ask what they are looking for help on. I can’t help without a base idea or assignment, but from there I can help students build on an idea, construct a bibliography, and draft papers. For creative writing students, I can help in the outlining process, forming better dialogue or scene writing, as well as give tips for character or plot development. I can proofread most types and genres of writing, though the ones I am most experienced in are research papers and narratives (short stories, flash fiction, etc.).
I have experience helping people at most levels, whether it be high school students, college students, or students looking for help on more personal projects.
I am not experienced enough or qualified to help with desertions. I do not have a Master’s or PhD yet and am still currently a student myself but I am good at letting you know what I can and can’t help with.
I always help my students to the best of my ability and make sure to give them and their work all the care and attention that they need.
