My name is Julia, and I've been an English tutor for the past 6 years. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in Arts and Humanities and love to help others achieve their academic goals! I'm an avid reader and writer, and have been publishing my own writing for about three years now. My expertise is in American Literature, British Literature, and Classic Literature, and I'm happy to share my passions with students.

Hello! My name is Julia, and I teach English and Literature. My approach to teaching English has always been student-focused, where I lead structured discussions with my students so that we can engage with big ideas and work through analyses of the text we're studying by answering questions together. I have a background in literary theory and love to guide students towards critical thinking by discussing and debating with them. A typical lesson plan when working with me would involve introducing the text, author, and historical context of a work before diving into actively reading the text together. We then do a close reading of the text to deepen our comprehension of the material and the concepts we're learning. Following that, we analyze the central themes, characters, and literary devices utilized within the text and discuss our opinions of the material. I love to use videos and podcasts to help our learning process! My lessons are ideally suited to students in middle school, high school, and college.
