About Alexis
I’m a Dartmouth graduate with honors in Social Science and a strong foundation in education, youth development, and curriculum design. Over the past several years, I’ve worked in both academic and nonprofit spaces — designing educational programs, tutoring students, writing my senior thesis, and conducting my sociological research. I’ve been trained in trauma-informed and inclusive teaching practices, and I take pride in creating supportive learning environments where students feel seen, capable, and motivated. I just started working as a Youth Education Specialist in New York with an emphasis in tutoring, and have a strong passion for youth empowerment and educational support. My Teaching Approach As a Dartmouth graduate trained in adaptive pedagogy and in my current job as a Tutoring and Youth Education Specialist for a non-profit, I design every lesson around the unique needs and learning style of each student. From there, I create tailored lesson plans using techniques like reflective questioning and active learning. I’ve developed original curricula in academic and nonprofit settings, so I know how to make learning both accessible and engaging. What Sets Me Apart: Beyond subject knowledge, I bring expertise in curriculum design, youth education, and trauma-informed instruction. I’ve worked with diverse learners — from K-12 students to college peers — always striving to foster growth, confidence, and genuine understanding.
