About Jalessa
A lifelong learner and an educator for my 10 year professional life, I truly love reading. That is what I want to pass on to the students I tutor. I have two small children whom I read with everyday to build their love of reading as well. In my education career, I have been an ESL teacher, a general education teacher, a middle school English teacher, a reading specialist, an Assistant Principal of ELA Instruction, and a Director of English Language Curriculum and Instruction. I am excellent at what I do and very much enjoy working with students to help them learn to love reading in English.

Enjoy learning English with a fun teacher and a mom full of joy. Lessons cycle through reading, writing, and discussion of complex texts, adventurous stories, and beautiful poems. I work with students learning English in grade levels 3-12. In a typical lesson, we will dive into stories and multiple complex texts and work on common core standards. With my background as a teacher, I utilize open resource standards aligned curriculum and focus on learning skills for English reading and writing mastery. What sets me apart is that my first years in the classroom I worked specifically as an ESL teacher for elementary students from Kindergarten through 6th grade.
