About Ní Cheallaigh
My name is Maria. I have completed a Bachelors Degree in Irish and Music from University College Cork and a Masters in Modern Irish from the National University of Ireland, Galway. I have also taught Irish in secondary schools throughout Ireland. From these experiences I have become passionate about teaching students the correct way to speak, write and comprehend Irish, so that they can eventually become independent in their own language learning. I am passionate about inspiring and sharing my love for the Irish language and encouraging students to take Irish outside of the classroom and use it as part of their daily lives.

I absolutely love the Irish language, not just as a school subject but as a living, breathing language spoken by over 73,000 people a day. Through my lessons I hope to encourage and inspire a love for the Irish language whilst also focusing on the important aspects such as grammar,syntax, pronounciation and comprehension. Having a thorough knowledge of the Irish education system helps me guide students towards their desired mark with over 90% of my past pupils achieving their desired mark or above.
