About Megan
I am a graduate of Bergen Community College and Rider University with an Associate of Arts in Theater and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies Magna Cum Laude.
I decided a little later on after graduating college that I wanted to work with children. For a long time after I graduated, I was in a big funk about what I wanted to do with my life. In September 2016, I began working at Mad Science of Northeastern New Jersey where I would teach Science-Based after-school programs in various elementary schools as well as teaching science summer camps and preschool workshops. Working at Mad Science taught me a lot about creativity and engaging students to learn. It was there that I decided that I wanted to teach. From February 2018 to February 2020, I worked at The Maria Montessori Academy in Cliffside Park New Jersey. Here I was exposed to a completely different way of teaching and learned how to work with students of varying ages. I learned to respect children’s intelligence and to never underestimate their skills as well as to develop patience with children. As time went on, I wanted to get more experience, preferably working in the public school system, so I applied to become a substitute teacher in Bergen County. While working as a substitute teacher, I discovered my strength working as a Paraprofessional. I realized that I loved working with children who learn differently and eventually ended up working as a Paraprofessional in Englewood New Jersey. This is where I currently work today. Every day, I learn something new about working with children. I learn confidence and how to best approach children when teaching them.

I have loved to read ever since I was a little girl and have always enjoyed writing. When I worked at Montessori, I would always give reading lessons to the younger children by using wooden letter blocks and teaching them to spell words using those blocks. I also loved to make it a wheel of fortune type game with the older kids by incorporating their spelling words into them. I have also taught young children with literacy issues by giving them easy-to-read books and helping them to read by guiding them through the words.
I believe that the best teachers and tutors out there can engage their students by making learning fun, and that Is what I aim to do as a tutor myself.
So if you have elementary-age children who have trouble reading and writing then I am here to help!
