About Juanita
I am an elementary school student teacher, voice, piano, ukulele and guitar instructor residing in Montréal, Québec. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts honours degree at York University where I specialized in voice performance and psychology. During my studies, Juanita was awarded the Continuing Scholarship, and graduated Cum Laude.
I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. I was one of the two recipients of the Vari Award Scholarship.
In addition, I have worked as a music therapist volunteer at Holland Bloorview
Hospital where I assisted kids with special needs, helping them experience the social, cognitive and physiological benefits of music instruction.
In addition to music, I also teach and tutor languages (French, English and Spanish) and social sciences for students in Pre-K to Elementary, high school and college. I have taught English and French as both a second language and to native speakers. I incorporate oral, reading, grammar and writing skills into creative, personalized lesson plans.
I am known for my gentle approach to teaching. I am cognizant and encouraging of individual learning styles. I forge a trusting relationship with her students, building upon their strengths. I believe that education should have no barriers of entry and should be accessible to everyone, including all abilities and backgrounds.
