About Stefan
I am a professional freelance flautist based in the Edinburgh, offering flute, keyboard and recorder lessons. I graduated with a bachelors in Musicology from King’s College London and then from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a masters in flute performance.
I have taught flute, piano and recorder in London for nearly 5 years to a wide variety of ages and stages, from beginners to students who are working towards top exam grades. I have many adult students who are either beginning on a new instrument or returning to their childhood hobbies after a lengthy hiatus. I am experienced in teaching many different genres from baroque, classical, jazz, contemporary and more.
Domestically, I have played frequently with Birmingham Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet and Opera North. I have also spent a significant amount of time performing abroad as the flautist on The Phantom of the Opera Middle East and European Tours.
As a student, I won the British Flute Society Young Artist competition and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Needlemakers’ competition for woodwind. Before coming to London, I played with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. As well as being primarily a flautist, I am also a proficient pianist, having accompanied regularly as a répétiteur for both the King’s College London Opera Society and Musical Theatre Society. I have accompanied numerous students in both university examinations and ABRSM examinations.

I have heard Stefan perform Flute on many occasions, including Opera North, Northern Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet productions, to name but a few. This 'live' performance experience enables Stefan to articulate the practical aspects of flute playing, very much bringing to life the theoretical component of his lessons.
Stefan is a really patient and kind teacher who really makes sure the lesson is tailored to whatever I want or need. He is professional and responsive to messages as well which makes everything much easier. Definitely recommend!
