About Debra
I graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with degrees in Education and Linguistics (the study of languages, their history, how they function). I was hired by the University's Writing Center as a Senior Tutor, where I worked for three years. I later taught at that same University, and eventually, others. My understanding of the challenges of English was heightened by my living outside of the United States for several years, learning Spanish, and teaching ESL. Over the years I have worked with hundreds of students with a wide array of challenges and language needs, but, since I love it, we always find a way to make the learning an enjoyable, fun experience. Yes, it's work. But it doesn't have to be intimidating. Language, our choice of words and how we express them, is primarily how we communicate with one another. So, let's try to be good at it and have fun doing so!

Learning English, or improving your skills. can be great fun! Yes, it's work, but it doesn't have to be dreary. I tailor every session to the needs of the student. Whether we work on enunciation, usage, grammar, or just converse to improve your speaking skills, our sessions can be informative and practical. I have worked with hundreds of students, from ESL to US middle school students who simply don't like to write, or just don't understand the correct use of punctuation. But I promise, we can find a way to make learning enjoyable while addressing your specific concerns.
