About Charlee

Hi! My name is Charlee. I was in your shoes once. Except my bugbear was Maths, not English. I could never understand numbers and it frustrated me that no matter how hard I tried to understand it never quite seemed to click for me. And you know what? That’s fine. It doesn’t have to click. But perhaps I can help make things a little easier for you. We can find a method which works for you. Something that will help get you through the annoying stuff. (And maybe you’ll surprise yourself and discover a love for English Literature after all). I have studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Chichester. This involved covering a range of work from the classics (Shakespeare, for instance) to modern literature and poetry. Writing is a form of art; it is incredible what we can do with language to create masterpieces… and it’s all up to you and your choice! I am deeply passionate about the written-word and only hope to share this passion with budding readers and writers. I am a chill but firm tutor who will guide you down a structured but tailored-to-your-needs path.

About the lesson

In our first session, I feel it is important for me to listen to your main concerns regarding English Literature and Language. Is there something in particular that might be causing you anxiety? What is one thing you can’t quite grasp about the subject? Why is it so frustrating to you? When I have an understanding of what we will need to focus on, I will curate our lessons accordingly! We will break it down to its foundation and build it up together - all at your own pace. We will take a look at the texts you are currently studying at school and analyse them together. The most important thing to remember about English Literature is that the work is always subjective - it’s art in word form!
