About Julianna
As a Cornell University graduate in Communication with a minor in Creative Writing, I can assure you that my organization, professionalism, and work ethic goes above and beyond the average tutor. As the head teaching assistant, I supported course operations for the Cornell University course, COMM 2310: Writing about Communication, while leading, coordinating, and mentoring a team of four Learning Assistants. I tracked attendance and student participation, helped facilitate small group discussions, and took notes on what was covered during class time. I also graded and provided formative feedback on weekly writing exercises. Most importantly, I conducted one-on-one conferences before 3 major graded papers to go over their drafts and provide helpful feedback, and held weekly office hours to answer any questions they might have had. In addition to strategic writing and communications, I am passionate about creative writing. I’ve taken classes in poetry and storytelling for different media platforms, developing creativity and shaping my voice as a writer.

As a college-level writing teaching assistant for two semesters, I taught undergraduate writers by asking guided questions that built confidence, clarified ideas, and strengthened voice. Lessons focus on discussion, reflection, and flexible structure, especially for STEM-oriented students new to writing. I can teach at any level of writing, up to undergraduate students. Whether you're working on academic, structured writing, or reflective, contemplative work, I offer both practical guidance and help in developing ideas. After my teaching experience, the most formative moments came when my students' eyes lit up as they answered a guiding question and realized their essay had been in their mind the entire time; they just needed a small push to bring it out.
