About Olivia
I am a teacher, so I am aware of the standardized, state, and common core standards that you need to meet in order to be successful in your class and during testing. Along with this, I have been a nanny for upwards of ten years, meaning that I also have an in depth understanding of child development and behavior. With me, you or your child will learn to effectively communicate at or above grade level, while maintaining or even fostering an interest in academics you may have not seen before. My approach is a combination of culturally responsive pedagogy, universal lesson design, social and constructive theories of teaching, Montessori, and traditional teaching methods, to ensure that each student gets the resources they need to actively engage in curriculum.

If you like playing video games, texting, scrolling on your phone, and social media, but need help reading and writing, then I am the person for you! As a middle school English teacher, it is my job to make learning not only accessible and approachable, but enjoyable for all students. We will practice all the skills you need to learn in order to succeed in school, with texts that interest you! Ever write a five paragraph argument essay on video games or thrifting clothes? Or have a critical conversation about Disney characters? Yes, we will do the complex texts as well, but you will have opportunities with me to practice those skills in ways you like, not only ways you have to.
