About Jodi
I am a friendly and patient Mandarin tutor who is passionate about helping people discover how enjoyable learning a new language can be. I became confident about my ability to teach Mandarin after successfully teaching my British dad from knowing nothing to mastering the language. That experience showed me how powerful the right support and encouragement can be, and it inspired me to help others learn too. I truly love seeing students grow in confidence, and I always make my lessons relaxed, conversational and fun.

Mandarin
I am fluent in both Mandarin and English, and I teach Mandarin in a way that is friendly, structured and confidence-building. I start with the basics, including Pinyin pronunciation and tones, then move on to learning characters and vocabulary at a comfortable pace. Every lesson includes conversation practice so students can become confident speakers, not just memorise words. A typical session lasts around one hour and combines speaking, listening, reading and writing. I adapt every class to the student’s age, level and goals, whether they are learning for school, travel, culture or personal interest. I create a supportive environment where mistakes are welcomed and progress is celebrated, and I’m always happy to provide resources or homework for extra practice between lessons. My priority is helping students enjoy learning Mandarin while building real, lasting fluency. :) (side note English is also my first language, so I could teach by translating between English and Chinese)
