About Ivy
I have 4 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a PhD in Guitar Education. Throughout my career, I have worked with students seeking stronger technique, better musical understanding, and greater confidence in performance. Helping learners achieve progress through supportive instruction is something I truly enjoy.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, adaptability, and clear communication. I believe every student learns differently, so lessons are customized to suit individual needs and goals. Creating a positive atmosphere helps learners stay motivated and committed to improvement.
Outside teaching, I enjoy composing music, studying guitar pedagogy, and exploring a variety of musical genres. These interests help me continue growing as both a musician and educator. I am passionate about helping students develop skills that will support a lifelong enjoyment of music.

My guitar lessons focus on helping students develop practical skills that make playing enjoyable and rewarding. We work on rhythm control, chord fluency, fingerstyle techniques, lead guitar foundations, musical timing, and expressive performance through structured learning activities. Each lesson is designed to support steady and meaningful progress.
Students explore technique exercises, song-based learning, ear-training activities, improvisation tasks, and creative musical challenges. I encourage learners to understand how music works so they can play with greater confidence and independence. Lessons are tailored to individual interests and goals.
I enjoy helping students overcome obstacles and discover new possibilities in their playing. Through clear explanations and consistent encouragement, learners build stronger skills and greater confidence. My goal is to make every lesson engaging, practical, and inspiring.
