About Addie

I hold a Bachelor’s in Guitar Performance and a Master’s in Music Education, with 5 years of experience teaching guitar to learners of varying ages and skill levels. My teaching approach emphasizes technical development, musical understanding, expressive performance, and structured practice tailored to each student’s needs. I strive to create lessons that are both challenging and enjoyable, fostering motivation and growth.

In my lessons, I cover chords, scales, improvisation, fingerstyle techniques, reading music, and performance preparation. I provide feedback, exercises, and guidance that enhance both technical proficiency and artistic expression. I also encourage students to develop their musical identity and explore genres that inspire them.

Outside teaching, I continue performing, studying repertoire, and learning new techniques to remain inspired and effective as an instructor. Watching students gain confidence, skill, and joy in playing the guitar is deeply rewarding. I am committed to helping learners become well-rounded, expressive, and accomplished musicians.

About the lesson

Guitar lessons are most effective when they balance technical skill development, musical understanding, and expressive creativity. In my lessons, students work on finger dexterity, chord progressions, scales, soloing, rhythm, tone shaping, and musical interpretation. I create a supportive environment where learners feel encouraged to experiment, explore different genres, and express themselves fully through their instrument. Each lesson is structured to build confidence, skill, and musicality gradually.

Beginners focus on posture, basic chords, simple melodies, strumming techniques, and foundational finger exercises. Intermediate learners develop improvisation skills, more complex chords, soloing, reading notation, and rhythm consistency. Advanced learners refine advanced techniques, expressive phrasing, performance readiness, and stylistic interpretation. Lessons incorporate practice exercises, demonstration, feedback, and guidance tailored to each student’s strengths and goals.

Guitar lessons also encourage musical creativity, self-expression, and confidence in performing solo or with ensembles. Students learn to interpret pieces with emotion, play with precision, and develop a personal style. My goal is to support learners in becoming confident, expressive, and technically capable guitarists who enjoy making music and achieving their full potential.
