About Helen
Sometimes I admit that the hardest part of guitar is just showing up and starting the practice. We work through electric technique, chord transitions, and scales and modes to build your dexterity.
You will get a monthly recorded review of progress to track how your skills in improvisation, lead guitar, and music theory develop. Blues progressions and reading sheet music become manageable tasks rather than daunting obstacles for my students. Ear training is essential. Songwriting is the goal.

Honestly, I find that teaching music is less about rigid rules and more about finding the bridge between a student and their instrument. Having spent 15 years gigging in Tex-Mex and Latin pop, I bring a very practical perspective to our sessions. I work primarily with kids, teens, and hobbyists who are eager to develop their own sound.
My background as a self-taught guitarist ensures that I understand the hurdles a learner faces when trying to make sense of the fretboard. It is always important to me that we keep things neurodivergent-affirming and comfortable. Please reach out if you want to explore music in a space that values your personal growth.
