About Ivy
Standing on a sticky stage in a basement club, I realized that theory only goes so far without grit. My BFA from NYU Steinhardt provides the foundation, but my 3 records and extensive East Coast touring define how I hear music. I teach guitarists to bridge the gap between rigid sheet music and raw rock energy.
Working with students who read standard notation is my specialty. We tackle music theory, tuning, and maintenance alongside power chords and rhythm guitar. My approach covers fingerpicking, ear training, and soloing skills. Do you want to stop guessing and start playing with real intent?

Getting past the technical hurdle of playing requires a bridge between your formal training and the rock idiom. Since I spent 13 years navigating that exact crossover, I focus on the shortcuts that make sense for classical players.
We build your confidence by grounding every complex concept in an immediate, practical playing situation. Rather than dry drills, I provide free chord charts and tab sheets after every class to keep your progress moving steadily forward. My sessions function as a collaborative space where we troubleshoot your tone and refine your technique together. You can expect a direct, honest breakdown of how to make your instrument sound professional from day 1.
