About Quinn
As an experienced guitarist and dedicated teacher with four years of instructing students across various genres and skill levels, my journey in music began with a deep-seated passion for the guitar. From an early age, I immersed myself in learning and mastering different styles—from rock and blues to jazz and classical—which has enriched my understanding and versatility as a musician and educator.
My approach to teaching guitar is rooted in creating a supportive and enriching environment where students can explore their musical interests and develop their unique voice. I believe in tailoring lessons to the individual goals and learning styles of each student, whether they are beginners eager to strum their first chords or advanced players aiming to polish their techniques and expand their repertoire.
In lessons, I emphasize both technical proficiency and musical expression. We start with foundational exercises to build finger strength, coordination, and musical understanding. These exercises are complemented by learning songs and techniques relevant to the student's interests, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. I encourage creativity through improvisation and songwriting, helping students develop their musicality and confidence in expressing themselves through the guitar.
Outside of teaching, my ongoing engagement in the music community through performances and collaborations informs and inspires my teaching practice. These experiences allow me to continuously refine my approach and bring fresh insights and enthusiasm to my students. My ultimate goal as a guitar teacher is to ignite a lifelong passion for music in my students, empowering them to achieve their musical aspirations and find joy and fulfillment in their musical journey.

A guitar lesson with me is a dynamic and personalized journey aimed at cultivating both technical proficiency and musical expression. Each session begins with an assessment of the student's current abilities, musical interests, and goals. This initial evaluation allows me to tailor the lesson plan to meet the specific needs of the student, whether they are beginners starting from scratch or advanced players seeking to refine their skills in specific genres like rock, blues, jazz, or classical.
The structure of the lesson is carefully balanced to incorporate foundational techniques and creative exploration. We start with warm-up exercises to build finger strength, dexterity, and familiarity with the instrument. These exercises are followed by learning or reviewing musical pieces or exercises that reinforce essential skills such as chord progressions, scales, strumming patterns, and fingerpicking techniques. For students interested in improvisation or songwriting, lessons can delve into these areas to encourage creative expression and develop a deeper understanding of musical composition.
Central to my teaching approach is fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel motivated to explore their musical potential.
