About Sheilagh
I’m Sheilagh, a children’s Occupational Therapist and handwriting expert working in schools across the UK every week. And I know a LOT about writing.
I have published books on handwriting. One of these is a best seller. The National Handwriting Association said this book was ‘fantastic’.
I believe writing shouldn’t be difficult to learn. It’s a skill that should have no boundaries. I can teach your child the techniques. I will make learning it fun and easy to do.
When we can write we can inspire others with our thoughts. That is what I wish for your child. I can help solve problems such as problem such as … an awkward pencil grip / Forming letters incorrectly / Painful hands / Unable to write quickly / Illegible writing / A general disinterest in writing.

My teaching method is based on the latest handwriting research. Being great at handwriting is not about writing words over and over again. I use my skills to pinpoint the exact difficulties. We will do handwriting practice as well as fine motor skill games to help develop eye hand coordination skills. I also advise on sitting posture, how to angle the paper, techniques for the left handed writer and much more. I have been able to increase handwriting speed by a whole year group by recommending different pens. I have also helped reluctant writers win school writing competitions. Anything is possible with the right guidance.
