About David
Over the course of my 30-year writing career I have helped launch The Onion, won 13 Emmys for my work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, written a hit Broadway play and the lyrics for a Broadway musical, created a Twitter account that grew to over six million followers, created and run my own show on Netflix, and worked alongside people like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Sacha Baron Cohen, Mike Judge, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, and many more.

I help students learn to find their own voice as a writer as it applies to their college applications, their schoolwork, or anything else. I typically begin by reviewing the essay I assigned them at the end of the previous lesson, on a topic we both devise together. After the review I give them a ten-minute "lightning round" essay on a surprise (but open-ended) topic, and then review that. I find that there are different lessons to be learned from the long-term and short-term essays. The remainder of the time is spent in a free-form discussion of writing and self-expression in general. My tutoring, with appropriate changes, works for students from kindergarten to college. My 30-year career as a highly successful writer for TV, stage and Twitter (where I had six million followers) has left me fully qualified to assist any budding writer in any capacity.
