About Jennifer
I have over three years of tutoring experience, both face-to-face and online, and have tutored one-to-one and in small groups. In terms of academic subjects, I teach History, English (including primary reading and creative writing), and Drama from KS1 upwards (including LAMDA exams). I am also available to help university students, including proof reading dissertations. For older school pupils, I follow the framework of the exam board that they are studying with. Recent GCSE pupils achieved at least two grades higher in their English and History exams than predicted (a 4 to a 6 and a 5 to a 7).
I am currently offering an in-depth reading service for GCSE and A-Level essays and coursework. I will read the essay and provide in-depth written feedback. I charge by the half hour for this service and for reference, a 3,000 word piece of coursework would usually take about an hour to read and collate my written feedback.
I also teach 11+, including the GL Assessment, the CSSE (Essex area) and the Kent Test. I attended a grammar school in the West Midlands from Year 7-13, so am deeply knowledgeable about the pros and cons of this style of school. I am happy to teach 11+ as one-to-one sessions, or in small groups.
I teach voice work for confidence and public speaking. Having studied Linklater technique for a year as part of my drama school training, I aim to use it to help my pupils gain confidence. I teach both children and adults, so please get in touch if you are interested.

My son (7 year old) has been learning writing and reading from her since last March using online platform. I'm always thinking that she's a fantastic tutor. With her strict and kind encouraging, my son always concentrates very well. We are very happy with her especially in this difficult time.

Jennifer was amazing at helping me through the final stages of my history A level. My confidence had been severely knocked at school as my own teacher's teaching style did not compliment my learning style at all and I had been predicted a B when I needed at least an A to get into my first choice uni. I contacted Jennifer and asked if she could help me and she kindly offered up her time to do so. In the end I ended up not only exceeding my predicted grades but getting an A* which is something I would have never imagined. Despite only getting tutor lessons with Jennifer a month before my first history exam, she accurately targeted my weak points and gave me very helpful tips and guidelines to writing my essays. I am confident that I owe a lot of my progress to Jennifer and all of her help. Would recommend her to anybody struggling to get through the course... she works wonders!!

My name is Jennifer and I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2017 with a First in History. I also spent a year at Uppsala Universitet in Sweden, and trained professionally as an actor at the Oxford School of Drama. I tutor alongside working professionally as an actor and writer.
My tuition style is friendly but structured, and I encourage my students to have a dialogue with me about what they would like to focus on. Everyone learns differently and we won't just be staring at a textbook for the class but exploring the content in creative ways, as knowledge tends to be retained better if students are interested and excited about it. We will set goals together and I aim to make tutorials a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of 'getting it wrong' or asking 'stupid questions' (there are no stupid questions). I want students to feel confident in their subject and in themselves and to achieve their full potential.
