About Charles
My name is Charlie. I am a Hungarian Australian and I have spoken German my whole life. I learnt German at home, but I have also studied it all through high school, and now I am continuing to study it at University. Although Hungary is my land of origin, German has a very strong presence in my family, as my family lived in Austria for several years. This language and tradition is incredibly important to me, and I find no greater pleasure than sharing the joy of language learning with new people. I am so excited to help other people who share my passion improve and reap the rewards of their hard work.

I have tutored German to kids ranging from years 7 to 10, but would be happy to take any student who is eager to learn. Classes usually last 1-1.5 hours. I take a more traditional approach to language learning, finding that immersion is key to retention. Thus, although class time is predominantly spent teaching grammar or practising speech, I always work with students to connect something they are passionate about with their study, allowing them to practice and hence improve even in their leisure time. I am currently studying to be a German translator, and I am very passionate about German language and the cultures of the German-speaking world. I am excited to share this passion with learners of German of any age or level.
