About DTS
I have over two decades of experience in music theory and performance. Piano and violin are my instruments, however, I have recently discovered a passion for choral singing! I am an experienced tutor who enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities, and I would be honoured to help you (or your child) to cultivate a love for music theory and a deeper understanding of its nuances, complexities, and richness!

-My lessons are aimed at students who want to develop confidence in, and understanding of, the foundational principles that underlie the music that they play.
- I tailor my lessons according to each student's age, individual needs, and grade level. Every lesson is unique
- I use practical demonstrations and examples, colour, visual cues, and metaphors to illustrate concepts and encourage my students to participate in the lessons. This is because I believe that the best way to solidify music theory knowledge is through demonstration as well as explanation. And I also know that it's not just about the technique; it's also about the music. Theory is the vocabulary, and music is the language.
- I provide a relaxed and cheerful environment in which students can learn at their own pace. I encourage students to ask questions so that they can engage meaningfully with the learning material. I do expect accountability on the students' part (it is their responsibility to keep up with homework and assignments), but this is intended to keep them motivated and provide them with clear goals to work towards. Students can expect thorough feedback at the end of each lesson.
- I work with students whose music theory levels range from grade 1 through to grade 5. All ages are welcome.
- Currently, lessons are only offered online. I charge R180/hour for beginner classes (grades 1-3), R200/hour for intermediate classes (grade 4) and R225/hour for more advanced classes (grade 5).
