Approaching poetry and prose is about breaking the texts down into fragments. My students will find that this first step is a massive helping hand in their analytical process. Next, I work with my students to identify various techniques and stylistic features before developing a general thesis on the text.
I believe in guiding my students, but also letting them explore the texts on their own within an informative, inclusive academic framework.
