About Gypsy
Hi there, I am a University student studying Creative Media Arts at the University of Westminster! I have always been interested in English - be that literature, grammar, or language - and want to take that further by tutoring, helping others get invested in the subject and understand the importance of understanding language. I hope that my interest will rub off on you and you’ll get as invested as I am! I try to bring a creative perspective to English and encourage you to be perceptive and critical when reading or writing, to develop and clearly dictate your thoughts and feelings.

Although I do not have formal experience in tutoring, I do have an affinity for teaching and have a history of helping my peers with their work, which I have a methodical approach to. A typical lesson with me will follow this overall structure:
1. Build a rapport to create a comfortable learning environment
2. Establish the misunderstandings towards the subject
3. Plan out how to rectify these misunderstandings through various means, strategies and structures to be implemented in practice
4. Practice, practice, practice!
5. Look over work and evaluate what went well and what could be better - clear feedback and how to progress
6. Encourage to continue working on the subject outside of tutoring sessions with homework and independent research
I believe encouragement is so important to the development of a student's approach to their education in order to breed a mindset where they want to do their work rather than reluctantly go along with it. It causes them to produce better work which they can feel proud of and continue to put effort into which is where the best grades come about.
The typical length of a lesson will be around 1 hour, however I am completely open to discussing this to extend or shorten session length.
I can confidently tutor up to a GCSE/KS3 level for English (and so this includes nursery, primary, and secondary level English), past this threshold I am not as confident.
