About Maddy

My name is Maddy and I am twenty-two years old from Northumberland! I have lived in London for the past three years, and I am about to begin my Masters degree in Acting at East 15, a prestigious London drama school.

I am a bubbly, compassionate person who loves to help others! I have a passion for creative writing and acting. Last year, I was awarded Best Writer for my piece in Royal Holloway's 'Theatre Night,' in which I both wrote and directed a fifteen minute comedy-drama about feminism. I have also performed in many acting roles over the years, and have even travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe as part of a student-led theatre company. This has provided me with great confidence and people-skills.

My special interest is in Classical and American Century Gothic Literature, which I studied both at English A-Level and at University. I also specialise in Creative Writing, particularly in Short Stories and Poetry.

Please don't hesitate to ask if there is something else to do with English that you would like extra help with, as I am well-rounded in the subject so will be able to provide lessons in a wide range of areas, for a wide range of age groups!

I am also happy to chat and get to know my students first, with a taster session to see whether you would like to continue with our lessons or not!

About the lesson

My lessons take place one-on-one over Zoom, and typically last one hour (this can be adjusted accordingly to suit the student's needs).

During my lessons, I aim to engage my student by making the sessions as enjoyable and educational as possible.

As someone who remembers struggling with academic confidence back when I was younger at school, I am extremely empathetic and strive to make sure that no child falls behind. I want everyone to reach their full potential in their exams, by teaching them the necessary techniques and providing them with the tools they need in order to form structured and elegant prose, with an excellent understanding of grammar and punctuation.

I am a recent graduate of Royal Holloway University, where I received a First Class Honours, as well as achieving the highest mark in my year for one of my essays. I have a profound passion for writing, and I aim to make sure my student also finds enjoyment in the subject.

I also studied English Literature at A-Level, so I can provide tutoring sessions for those who need some extra help in preparation for their exams. I also received A stars in my GCSE's for English, so I am also available to help students at this level of studying.
